Tarsa Wins Pole Vault as St. Norbert Sits in First After Day 1

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College resides in first place after the opening day of competition at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Monmouth College's Zorn Memorial Stadium.

The Green Knights have 64 points to stand 12 points in front of second-place Monmouth College's 52 points heading into the decisive second day.

Graceanne Tarsa claimed the Green Knights' lone conference title out of the six finals contested, winning the pole vault with a St. Norbert-record height of 11 feet 1 inch. Kirsten Carrigan was second in the event with a clearance of 10-7.

Taylor Domro finished in second place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:39.71, while Megan Cibulka was third at 4:55.37.

Kristina Herman was second in the shot put with a toss of 42-4, followed by Savanna Smith in fourth place at 40-5 1/2. Hannah Kruse was sixth with a distance of 38-6.

Danielle Harris was fourth in the javelin throw at 110-1. Gretchen Price was fifth in the 10,000-meter run in 40:49.65, while Sarah Parbs was sixth in 42:05.03.
