St. Norbert Wins Pair of MWC Clashes

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College surged forward in the Midwest Conference race with a pair of dual wins, earning an 8-1 win over Ripon College and a 9-0 triumph over Lawrence University at Western Racquet and Fitness Club.

The Green Knights (8-4, 5-2 MWC) earned all three doubles wins over Ripon. Meg Witt and Claire Hetzel topped Hannah Ryback and Samantha Kiesner 8-4 at No. 1, while Sofie Koppmann and Hannah Swajanen defeated Brianna Bembenek and Morgan Makar 8-1 at No. 2. Erin Vits and Nicole Pfotenhauer turned in an 8-1 win over MacKenzie Warner and Carley Wesner at No. 3.

Witt topped Bembenek 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, followed by Koppmann's 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 win over Kiesner at No. 3. Swajanen also claimed a three-set win with a 7-6, 6-7, 10-7 win over Maker at No. 4. Pfotenhauer zipped past Warner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, while Hannah Keller defeated Kately Peroutka 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6.

Against Lawrence, Hetzel and Witt blanked Annie Harincar and Katie Nottberg 8-0 at No. 1. Koppmann and Swajanen defeated El Goblirsch and Morgan Fisher 8-4 at No. 2, and Vits and Pfotenhauer upended Lindsey Lucas and Lily Enbysk 8-1 at No. 3.

St. Norbert won all its singles matches against the Vikings in straight sets. Witt topped Harincar 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1, while Hetzel finished off Nottberg 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Koppmann routed Goblirsch 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, with Swajanen sweepting Fisher 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Pfotenhauer defeated Lucas 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5, while Keller trimmed Enbysk 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6.
