St. Norbert Clinches MWC Tournament Berth

DE PERE - St. Norbert College won its fifth consecutive Midwest Conference match and clinched a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament in the process with a 2-1 win over Beloit College.

The Green Knights (7-10, 6-2 MWC) can clinch the No. 2 seeding in the MWC Tournament with a win Sunday over Lake Forest College. Regardless of the outcome of Sunday's match, St. Norbert will face Grinnell College at 2 p.m. Friday in a MWC Tournament semifinal at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.

Following a scoreless first half, St. Norbert struck quickly in the second half to take control. Madalyn Sanderfoot scored her 10th goal of the season, finishing off an assist from Monica Stephans at 53:11. Moments later, Hanna Lech scored her third goal of the year after another setup by Stephans, finding the catge at 56:33.

The Buccaneers halved their deficit when Genesis Dade scored at 75:36, but St. Norbert hung on from there to notch the victory.

Beloit outshot St. Norbert 17-8, but Ally Magiera made nine saves for the Green Knights to preserve the win. Connor Keegan-Lloyd made two stops for BEloit.
