GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College took an early lead, added on to it and held on to advance in the Midwest Conference Tournament with a 2-1 win over Grinnell College in a Midwest Conference Tournament semifinal match at Knox College's Jorge Prats Field.

The Green Knights (8-10-1) will play Knox at 2 p.m. Saturday in the MWC Tournament championship match. The winner receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

St. Norbert got the jump on the Pioneers when Dana Schwab scored off an assist from Hanna Lech with a goal just 1 minute 40 seconds into the match.

The Green Knights carried their 1-0 lead into halftime but again struck quickly early in the second half. Schwab scored her second of the match and eighth goal of the season, finishing at the 46:44 mark. Monica Stephans assisted, the eighth of the season and 32nd of her career to tie Ann Maki (2007-09) for the most in St. Norbert history.

Grinnell would respond with a goal by Lauren Edwards at 66:22, but the Pioneers would get no closer.

St. Norbert outshot Grinnell 12-10, while the Pioneers had a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks. Ally Magiera made three saves for the Green Knights, while Elizabeth Hunt made two stops for the Pioneers.
