St. Norbert Nipped by Cardinals in Opening Meet

WINONA, Minn. - The St. Norbert College women's swimming and diving team's return to the pool for the first time in a decade came up just short in a dual meet at St. Mary's University, falling to the Cardinals by a scant 111-103 margin.

St. Norbert won six events and was also the runner-up in five competitions.

Miranda Wilson led the Green Knights with a pair of event titles, winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.92 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:26.50. Wilson was also second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.15.

Claire Santas won the 100-yard freestyle in 59.48 seconds. She was also runner-up in two events - the 200- and 500-yard freestyles in times of 2:07.87 and 5:54.58, respectively.

Kirsten Williams won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.14 and was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.10 seconds. She was also part of the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay along with Nya Karner, Sarah Vigil and Haley Wagner, which finished in 1:52.26.

Brittney Zimmer won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:13.52.

Haley Wagner finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.74.
