MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College scored just 13 second-half points and suffered its second consecutive loss, taking a 60-51 setback to Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference game at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights, ranked 11th by D3hoops.com, fell to 16-3 overall and 10-2 in the MWC. St. Norbert still remains a game ahead in the Midwest Conference standings with four games left to play. Monmouth improved to 7-12, 4-8.

St. Norbert held a 38-29 halftime lead, but an 8 minute 7 second scoring drought to open the second half ultimately led to the Green Knights collapse. Monmouth didn't score for almost the first four minutes of the second half, either, but eventually opened the second half on a 10-0 run.

The Green Knights held their last lead at 43-42 on a Bryan Fleischmann free throw with 5:46 left. But Monmouth would go on a 9-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 51-45 lead with 1:26 to go. St. Norbert missed three shots and had one turnover during Monmouth's decisive run.

St. Norbert made just 5 of 21 field goals in the second half, just 23.8 percent. The Green Knights were a hot 14-for-24 in the first half, good for 58.3 percent. St. Norbert built as much as a 37-24 lead with 2:32 left before halftime on a Jake Dietz conventional three-point play, but the nearly 11-minute stretch without a field goal doomed the visitors.

Dietz led St. Norbert with 17 points and eight rebounds. Paul Mallers added nine points.

Eric Grant paced Monmouth with 15 points and was 3-for-3 from beyond the three-point arc. Zach Ott added 11 points for the Scots, who had just five turnovers in the game.
