St. Norbert Drops Season Opener in Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Norbert College opened its 2018-19 season with a 78-68 loss at the University of Northwestern at Ericksen Center.

The Green Knights got off to a good start, leading 5-0 and leading for almost the entire first half. St. Norbert, which led 31-28 at halftime, had six leads of five points in the first 20 minutes of action.

St. Norbert last led at 37-36 with 16:30 to play on a pair of Connor Curtis free throws. The Eagles would go on a 12-1 run over the next 3:18 to take control, pushing out to a 48-38 lead. The Green Knights would get back to within 48-44 with 12:27 to go on a conventional three-point play by Joe Lemon, but Northwestern would score the game's next six points. St. Norbert would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way, coming late in the game.

Lemon led St. Norbert with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Curtis was the only other Green Knight in double figures with 14 points, while Wade Geenen added nine points and seven rebounds. The Green Knights shot 36.9 percent (24-for-65) from the floor.

Northwestern had five players reach double figures, led by Anderson Bazile's 22 points. Brady Bellefeuille had 14 points, while Tanner Youngberg added 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Eagles shot 50 percent from the floor, going 28-for-56.
