St. Norbert Rolls Past Lawrence

DE PERE - St. Norbert College posted a season-high goal total as the Green Knights romped past Lawrence University 8-1 in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (7-2-1, 3-2 NCHA) outshot Lawrence by a 51-15 margin, including 40-10 in the first two periods.

Kurt Black scored the first two goals for the Green Knights, registering a power-play goal at 5:28 and adding an even-strength marker at 15:06. Steven Phillips scored at 19:22 of the first period to put St. Norbert ahead 3-0 at first intermission.

Lawrence cut into the deficit with a shorthanded goal by Daniel Gysi at 2:13 of the second period, but St. Norbert promptly got the goal back on Evan Cholak's first collegiate goal at 3:44. Roman Uchyn's goal at 8:05 put St. Norbert up 5-1. Jack Thomas scored on the power play for his first collegiate goal at 9:15 of the period. Black pumped in his third goal of the night and his eighth of the season with a goal at 15:14. Chase Mickelson added his first collegiate goal by closing out the scoring at 17:38 of the second period.

In addition to Black's three-goal game, William Yates had three assists for three points. Riley Christensen and Luke Davison each had two assists for two points, while Mickelson added an assist for a two-point game.

T.J. Black made 14 saves for the Green Knights. Greg Procopio made 32 saves in two periods for the Vikings, while Evan Cline finished up with an 11-save third period.

The Green Knights were 2-for-8 on the power play, while the Vikings were 0-for-4.
