Green Knights Fall Short Against Pointers

DE PERE - St. Norbert College rallied from a 16-point second-half deficit but eventually succumbed 65-58 to UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights, who trailed 36-22 at halftime, found themselves down 40-24 a minute and a half into the third quarter before getting back into the game. St. Norbert scored eight-straight points, six by Macie Zurfluh, to trail 40-32 with 6:01 left in the period. Following a Stevens Point hoop the Green Knights scored the next seven points, trailing 42-39 after a Sarah Neumann basket. Stevens Point answered with a 7-0 run of its own and eventually settled on a 52-43 lead after the third quarter.

St. Norbert stayed within single digits the entire fourth quarter, getting as close as four points at 60-56 with 1:39 left, but could get no closer.

The Green Knights shot 42 percent (21-for-52) from the floor and were 15-for-23 (65.2 percent) at the free-throw line. Sarah Ratajczyk had team-highs with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Neumann finished with 13 points, while Zurfluh added 11 points and Christine Olijnyk 10 points.

Stevens Point shot 45.5 percent (25-for-55) from the floor and outrebounded St. Norbert 34-31. Amber Baehman had 24 points to lead the Pointers.
