Third Quarter Difference for St. Norbert

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't overcome a tough third quarter as the Green Knights lost at Illinois College 71-60 in a Midwest Conference game at Sherman Gymnasium.

The Green Knights trailed 28-25 at halftime before the Lady Blues broke open the game with a 24-13 edge in the third quarter.

St. Norbert trailed 24-13 early in the second quarter before going on an 8-0 run to get back into the game. Olivia DeCleene had a layup and 3-pointer and Christine Olijnyk followed with a trey to cut the deficit to 24-21 with 3:44 left in the period. DeCleene's basket with 33 seconds left brought St. Norbert to withing 28-25 at the break.

Illinois College wrested control for good with an 11-0 run to open the third quarter, taking a 39-25 lead with 6:57 left in the third quarter. St. Norbert, which trailed 52-38 after the third quarter, would get to within eight points at 60-52 with 5:28 remaining, but would get no closer.

St. Norbert shot 37.5 percent (24-for-64) from the floor. Macie Zurfluh led the Green Knights with 17 points, while DeCleene added 16.

Illinois College shot 47.3 percent (26-for-55) from the field. Carly Cameron led the Lady Blues with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Madison Schoenfeld added 17 points and 13 rebounds.
