FOND DU LAC - Marian University scored three goals in a span of 4 minutes 41 seconds late in the first period and that was enough to send St. Norbert College to a 3-1 defeat in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Blue Line Family Ice Center.

The Sabres received goals from Nick Monfils at 13:14, a power-play goal by Lane Valimont at 15:51 and Troy Ring at 17:55 to carry a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

St. Norbert had a pair of power-play chances in the second period but couldn't convert. The Green Knights then had a 2-minute 5-on-3 power-play opportunity at the 5:02 mark of the third period but came up empty. St. Norbert also had 1:10 of 5-on-3 power-play time with just over 5 minutes remaining but couldn't solve Marian goaltender Hunter Vorva, who finished with 32 saves.

The Green Knights got their only goal with 2:45 remaining when Evan Cholak scored off assists from Steven Phillips and Brad Pung. St. Norbert had 1:07 of extra-attacker time but couldn't draw closer.

Marian outshot St. Norbert 34-33. T.J. Black made 31 saves for the Green Knights.

St. Norbert was 0-for-6 on the power play, while Marian was 1-for-2.
