Green Knights Have Little Trouble With Vikings

APPLETON - St. Norbert College jumped out to an early two-goal lead and cruised to a 4-1 win over Lawrence University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Appleton Family Ice Center.

The Green Knights (10-4-3, 6-4-1 NCHA) moved back into a first-place tie with Marian University in the NCHA's North Division and is one point behind Lake Forest College in the overall NCHA standings.

St. Norbert got an early lead when Riley Christensen scored his team-high ninth goal of the season at 7:22 of the first period. The Green Knights doubled their lead when Logan Froberg scored at 13:05, leading to a two-goal edge at first intermission.

The Green Knights pushed ahead 3-0 on a Peyton Frantti power-play goal at 12:35 of the second period, but the Vikings would get the goal back at 19:08 on a power-play score by Jake Drinkard.

St. Norbert closed out the scoring with a shorthanded goal by Dominick Sacco at 9:31 of the third period, his seventh overall marker of the year.

Christensen added an assist for a two-point game, while Timmy Nicksic added two assists.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 35-24. The Green Knights were 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Vikings were 1-for-4.

T.J. Black made 23 saves for St. Norbert, while Evan Cline made 31 stops for Lawrence.
