Lawrence Tops St. Norbert Again, Green Knights Now Tied for MWC Lead

APPLETON - St. Norbert College lost to Lawrence University for the second time in 11 days with a 65-38 loss in a key Midwest Conference game at Alexander Gym.

The Green Knights, ranked 19th by D3hoops.com, fell to 18-4 overall and 12-3 in the MWC. Lawrence is now tied in the loss column with the Green Knights at 11-3, while Grinnell is also 12-3 in the league.

St. Norbert never led and trailed 17-3 eight minutes into the game. The Green Knights would get as close as 10 at 17-7 with 10:15 left before halftime, but a 14-3 run by the Vikings would give the hosts a 31-10 lead with 3:55 to go before the break.

The Green Knights shot just 21.1 percent from the floor, making 12 of 57 shots, and were 2-for-21 on three-point shots. Dave Wipperfurth had nine points for the Green Knights, who did not have another player score more than five points.

Lawrence shot 50 percent from the floor and made eight 3-pointers. John Dekker had 17 points, while Chris Page and Ryan Kroeger had 11 points apiece. St. Norbert did hold a 39-36 rebounding margin.
