St. Norbert Hangs In at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - St. Norbert College couldn't quite get over the hump in a 4-2 loss to sixth-ranked Adrian College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Arrington Ice Arena.

The Green Knights enter the final weekend of regular-season play needing a sweep of Northland College to reach the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs. St. Norbert is four points behind fifth-place Northland and three points behind sixth-place Trine University, with the top six teams reaching the post-season.

Adrian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, getting goals from Brianna Buchanan at 8:26 and Julia Barrett at 11:42. Lisa Lenell then scored her second goal of the season with a power-play marker at 15:26 off assists from Kelli Sorge and Jessica Schlaff. The Bulldogs' Jacqueline White pushed the host back up by two on a power-play goal at 18:16.

Following a scoreless second period, Adrian's Tory Harshman scored at 6:33 of the third period. The Green Knights got back to within two on Libbie Doney's goal at 8:41. Lenell assisted for a two-point game.

Adrian outshot St. Norbert 28-20. Anais Aurard made 24 saves for the Green Knights, while Denisa Jandova made 18 saves for the Bulldogs.

St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Adrian was 1-for-3.
