St. Norbert Clinches 16th NCHA Regular-Season Championship

HANCOCK, Mich. - St. Norbert College wrapped up the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Peters Cup championship and home ice throughout the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs with an 8-1 win over Finlandia University at Houghton County Arena.

The Green Knights (18-4-3, 14-3-1 NCHA) extended their winning streak to nine with the win, which sealed their 16th NCHA regular-season title in the last 23 seasons.

St. Norbert fell behind early when Finlandia's Teddy Randell scored a power-play goal at 4:14 of the first period. Roman Uchyn answer for St. Norbert with a marker at 12:54 to send the game into first intermission tied at 1-1.

The Green Knights broke the game open with four second-period goals. Dominick Sacco scored just 46 seconds into the frame, followed by Peter Bates goals at 6:06 and 8:25. Brad Pung added a goal at 10:25 for a 5-1 lead.

Uchyn scored twice more, at 6:35 and a 5-on-3 power-play goal for a hat trick at 10:15 for his team-high 13th goal of the season. Keegan Milligan closed out the scoring with a goal at 15:21.

Pung added four assists for a five-point game. Uchyn had an assist for a four-point game, while Bates had an assist for a three-point game. Peyton Frantti and Chase Mickelson had two assists apiece, while Sacco had an assist for a multi-point game.

Finlandia outshot St. Norbert 31-28. The Green Knights were 3-for-7 on the power play, while Finlandia was 1-for-3.

T.J. Black made 23 saves in just over 49 minutes of work for the Green Knights, while Ryan Bontorin had seven saves in relief. A pair of Finlandia goaltenders made 20 saves.
