DE PERE - St. Norbert College bounced back from a disappointing series-opening loss to Ripon College with wins of 4-2 and 14-2 in a Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader at Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights (7-9, 2-1 MWC North) fashioned several big innings to rebound from a 12-8 loss to the Red Hawks the previous day, when St. Norbert surrendered seven runs in the eighth inning.

St. Norbert scored four runs in the first inning of the opener, with starting pitcher Nick Klavekoske making it stand up the rest of the way. Griffin Jack brought a run home on a grounder, followed by a run-scoring single by Max Van Boxel and a two-run double from Peyton Jack. Ripon would get single runs in the second and third innings but couldn't draw closer.

Klavekoske went 8 1/3 innings for the win, allowing seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Mason Sefcik got the last two outs to nail down his first save.

Lucas Reynolds and Ben Kohl were both 2-for-4.

In the nightcap, the Green Knights banged out 18 hits to spur the rout.

Jack Maastricht doubled home Reynolds in the first inning. Sean Ferraro had a sacrifice fly to bring in the first of two second-inning runs, while Maastricht added another RBI double for a 3-0 lead. The Green Knights brought around seven runs in the third inning to break the game open. Michael Larsen had an RBI single, with Ferraro promptly following with a two-run double. Isaac Gerhardt then had an RBI double. Kohl later added a two-run single and Griffin Jack had an RBI grounder.

St. Norbert scored four times in the fifth inning, getting two runs on a Van Boxel single, one on a Brett Reinhart double and another on a Larsen double.

Tommy Maher earned the win for the Green Knights, scattering 10 hits in the complete-game effort, walking one with six strikeouts.

Maastricht, Larsen and Ferraro all had three hits for St. Norbert, while Kohl, Van Boxel and Reinhart all had two apiece.
