Green Knights Sweep Knox

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College banged out 31 hits in a Midwest Conference doubleheader sweep of Knox College by scores of 12-1 and 9-1 at Knox Softball Field.

The Green Knights pounded out 22 hits in the opener. Brianna Braeger was 4-for-5, while Ashley Zimmerman, Randi Morack, Whitney Baumann and Taylor Ullman were all 3-for-5. Braeger and Ullman each doubled.

Knox scored a run in the first inning, but St. Norbert answered with a single run in the second on an RBI double by Braeger. The Green Knights added three runs in each of the next two innings. Ullman had an RBI double in the third, followed by a two-run single by Morgan Moxon for a 4-1 lead. St. Norbert added to its lead with its three-run fourth.

Carley Frauenhoff had an RBI single in the fifth for an 8-1 lead. The Green Knights scored four runs on five hits in the seventh inning. Morack's two-run single highlighted the uprising.

Emma Molenhouse scattered six hits with one walk and two strikeouts in the complete-game win.

St. Norbert scored five runs in the second inning to take control of the nightcap. Morack had a run-scoring single, followed by a booming three-run double by Braeger. Baumann finished the rally with an RBI single. Allison Knop hit a sacrifice fly in the third. Knox added a run in the third inning, but St. Norbert got two runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Zimmerman and a groundout by Knop. Carmen Yost scored on a wild pitch in the sixth for the game's last run.

Morack had the only multi-hit game for the Green Knights, going 2-for-3.

Morgyn Zielke had a complete-game win, allowing seven hits with one walk and one strikeout.
