St. Norbert Falls to Ripon in Last Game of Series

RIPON - St. Norbert College fell behind early and couldn't recover, losing an 11-4 decision to Ripon College in the last game of a Midwest Conference North Division series at Francis Field.

Ripon scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. St. Norbert scored a run in the top of the second on a Michael Larsen RBI groundout, but the Red Hawks scored twice in their half of the inning to take a 5-1 lead.

St. Norbert would get a run back in the fourth inning on a Lucas Reynolds RBI grounder, but again Ripon would answer, this time with a three-run frame to pull ahead 8-2. St. Norbert got a run back on a Brett Reinhart RBI double in the seventh inning, but Ripon salted the game away with three runs in its half of the inning. St. Norbert scored its final run when Jack Maastricht tripled and scored on Ben Kohl's RBI groundout.

St. Norbert finished with nine hits, with Max Van Boxel going 3-for-3. Mason Sefcik took the loss, working three innings.
