Green Knights Rally for Split With Lawrence

DE PERE - St. Norbert College rallied from a deficit in the second game to gain a Midwest Conference doubleheader split with Lawrence University at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex. The Green Knights won the second game 5-4 after losing the opener 6-3.

St. Norbert found itself looking at a 4-0 deficit in the nightcap after the Vikings scored three runs in the first inning and one more in the third inning. The Green Knights scored twice in the fourth inning to get to within 4-2, with Ashley Zimmerman powdering a deep home run to left field and Alyssa Sikora's triple bringing home Sarah Koltermann.

The Green Knights would score three times in the fifth inning to take the lead. Allison Knop's grounder scored Morgan Moxon, who had opened the inning with a single. Carley Frauenhoff's double tied the game at 4-4 when Randi Morack - who had reached on an error - scored. Zimmerman then hit a double to bring home Frauenhoff and put the Green Knights ahead.

St. Norbert pitcher Alexis Tingley worked clean sixth and seventh innings to nail down the win for the Green Knights. Tingley allowed four hits in 6 1/3 innings of relief.

Zimmerman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Sikora and Moxon were both 2-for-3.

In the opener, Lawrence scored all six of its runs in the third inning, getting seven hits coupled with two St. Norbert errors in the frame. St. Norbert scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings but couldn't draw closer. Morack had a run-scoring grounder in the fourth, while Koltermann roped a run-scoring triple in the fifth. Knop added an RBI single in the sixth.

Knop and Koltermann were both 2-for-4. Emma Molenhouse took the loss, working 2 2/3 innings pitched.
