BELOIT - St. Norbert College split a Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader with Beloit College, winning the opener 13-7 before dropping the nightcap 10-9 in a game shortened to seven innings by darkness at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium.

The Green Knights finished with 12 hits in the opener and scored in six of nine innings. Ben Kohl gave St. Norbert an early lead with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, with Beloit answering with a run in its half of the frame. The Green Knights added an unearned run in the second but the Buccaneers took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

St. Norbert scored twice in the fourth with Beloit adding one in the inning. The Green Knights added two in the fifth on a solo home run by Jack Maastricht and an RBI single by Max Van Boxel, but the Buccaneers came again to tie it at 6-6 with two more runs. Maastricht's two-run double in the sixth inning put St. Norbert ahead for good at 8-6. Beloit added a run in the seventh but left the bases loaded and stranded two more runners in the eighth. St. Norbert broke the game open with five runs in the ninth inning, getting RBI singles from Isaac Gerhardt and Sean Ferraro, a bases-loaded walk from Maastricht and a two-run single from Kohl.

Gerhardt was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Maastricht was 2-for-4 with four RBI. Kohl and Brett Reinhart were both 2-for-5, with Kohl posting three RBI. Carson Jacques earned the win, working five innings.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert got a solo home run from Kohl and a run-scoring triple from Van Boxel in the first inning, but Beloit scored four runs to take a 4-2 lead. The Green Knights got an RBI double from Lucas Reynolds in the second but the Buccaneers would add three runs to their total for a 7-3 edge. St. Norbert responded with three runs in the third, which included a run-scoring triple by Ferraro.

St. Norbert would take a 9-7 lead with three runs in the fifth on a run-scoring single by Ferraro and a two-run single from Peyton Jack. But Beloit would get three runs in the fifth to take the lead, which would hold up until the game was stopped in the bottom of the seventh due to darkness.

Kohl, Reinahrt and Ferraro were all 3-for-4. Trevor Ramthun was charged with the loss.
