Green Knights Gain Consolation Champion at MWC Doubles Tournament

MADISON - St. Norbert College's Alex Vandenberg and Luke Andrekus won the consolation championship in the No. 2 flight at the Midwest Conference Doubles Championship at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Vandenberg and Andrekus won the consolation title with a default win over Illinois College's Jonah Wheeland and Cameron Doerr. The duo earlier defeated Monmouth College's Andrew Shie and Breandon Guenther 8-1 in the consolation semifinal. They opened the bracket with an 8-6 loss to Lawrence University's Evan Oriel and Matt Chan in the quarterfinals.

Matt La Violette and Jordan Crump lost in the semifinals of the No. 3 flight with an 8-7 (7-5) setback to Lawrence's Aidan Delgado and Andrea Arivella. The pair won their quarterfinal match 8-2 over Illinois College's Jacob McQueen and Connor McAndrew. 8-5.

Johnny Zanotti and Andrew Gerhring lost in in the quarterfinals of the No. 1 flight to Cornell College's Shoma Kishimoto and Hayden Drurisin. They then lost in the consolation semifinals to Monmouth's Joseph Shie and Zach Harris 8-5.
