DE PERE - St. Norbert College was swept on the second day of its Midwest Conference North Division series with the University of Chicago by scores of 3-1 and 9-3 at Larry Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights (15-16, 10-6 MWC North) left 21 runners on in the doubleheader, including 13 in the nightcap.

St. Norbert suffered a tough loss in the opener, with Chicago scoring single runs in the second, third and seventh innings. The Green Knights mounted a last-ditch rally in the ninth inning, with Keagan McCarthy's two-out single driving in Brett Reinhart and putting the potential go-ahead run at the plate, but St. Norbert couldn't extend the inning.

Reinhart was 2-for-3 to lead St. Norbert, which had six hits. Mason Sefcik took the tough loss, allowing six hits and two earned runs in 6 2/3 innings pitched.

In the nightcap, Chicago took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before St. Norbert responded with runs in the second and third innings. Michael Larsen had a run-scoring single in the second and Max Van Boxel did the same in the third inning for a 2-1 lead. Chicago took control with a seven-run fourth inning which featured five extra-base hits. The Maroons added a run in the sixth inning for a 9-2 lead, and St. Norbert scored its last run in the ninth inning thanks to a pair of Chicago throwing errors.

Van Boxel, Reinhart and Jack Maastricht all had two hits apiece for St. Norbert, which finished with 12 hits. Nick Klavekoske took the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings pitched.
