DE PERE - St. Norbert College's home opener was a successful one, as the Green Knights posted a 1-0 win over Edgewood College in a non-conference match at Schneider Stadium.

The victory gave new coach Bob Rickards his first collegiate win.

St. Norbert (1-2) got all the scoring it would need in the 17th minute, when Emily Names had a beautiful header finish of an accurate cross from the foot of Katelyn Kane. Names' goal, her second of the season, came from directly out front of the goalmouth.

The Green Knights would have control for most of the match but held off the Eagles, with Edgewood getting a decent scoring chance with about 13 minutes remaining. St. Norbert outshot Edgewood 17-8 in the match and had a commanding 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Ava Seifert made two saves for St. Norbert and McKenna Lacy one save in 19 minutes of relief. Grace Wildeboer made seven stops for Edgewood.
