Green Knights Dispatch Nationally Ranked Gustavus Adolphus at Loras Tournament

DUBUQUE, Iowa - St. Norbert College split its matches on the second day of the Loras College Tournament, but its win was a big one as the Green Knights knocked off No. 11-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College at the Loras Athletics & Wellness Center.

The Green Knights (5-3) dispatched the Gusties 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 25-16 after opening the day with a 16-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23 loss to Wartburg College in the opener. The win over Gustavus Adolphus was St. Norbert's first win over a nationally ranked foe since a 3-2 win over Carthage College on Aug. 31, 2012.

St. Norbert powered down 49 kills against Gustavus Adolphus, with Grace Baumann leading the way with 16. Emily Terry had nine kills, Jessica Geurts and Haley Bartz eight apiece, and Lexie Van Hiel seven to round out a balanced offensive attack. Emily Rohloff totaled 43 assists. Geurts had four service aces.

The Green Knights had five different players in double-digit digs - Liz Maastricht had 15, while Baumann added 14. Terry, Rohloff and Colleen DeLisle all had 10 apiece. Van Hiel had six blocks and Baumann added three.

St. Norbert hit .257 (54-18-140) against Wartburg but was stymied by 10 blocks and 11 service aces by the opposition. Baumann led St. Norbert with 17 kills, while Van Hiel added 14 and Terry 10. Rohloff totaled 49 assists. Geurts added three service aces.

Maastricht fashioned 27 digs from the back row, while Baumann finished with 16 digs and Terry 10. Geurts and Van Hiel had three blocks apiece.
