SUPERIOR - UW-Superior's Chad Beiswenger turned in a 32-save performance to shutout St. Norbert College in a 3-0 win for the Yellowjackets in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Peters Cup Playoffs semifinal game at Wessman Arena.

The Yellowjackets (23-2-3) move on to face UW-Stout for the Peters Cup championship. St. Norbert (19-8-1) must wait until March 8 to discover if it will receive an at-large berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Superior wasted little time in taking the lead. The Yellowjackets' Braden Desmet scored at 4:53 of the first period and then added a second marker just 2:50 later to give the home team a quick 2-0. St. Norbert could not close the game the rest of the first period despite having three power plays.

The Green Knights did not cash in on a power play in the second period, with one Superior penalty being the only action in the middle period. St. Norbert appeared it would have a golden opportunity to get back into the game when Superior's Talon Berlando was fingered for a five-minute major checking from behind penalty just 49 seconds into the third period. But the Green Knights would come up empty on the major, and Jeff Herman's unassisted goal at 7:46 of the third period was the game's final margin.

St. Norbert outshot Superior 32-19, but could not solve Beiswenger. The Green Knights were 0-for-6 on the power play while Superior was 0-for-2.

Blake Bashor started in goal for St. Norbert and made 11 saves in 47:46 of work. B.J. O'Brien finished up with five saves in the game's final 12:!4.
