Green Knights to Face Ohio Northern Friday in NCAA Tournament

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face Ohio Northern University in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Green Knights (16-4-2) will face the Polar Bears (13-6-2) at 3:30 p.m. EST at Calvin's Zuidema Field. Calvin (19-1-1) will face UW-Whitewater (15-4-2) in the other first-round game. The winners will play at 3 p.m. Saturday for the right to advance to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16.

St. Norbert is making its seventh appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament and its first since 2016. The Green Knights, who won the Midwest Conference Tournament, are 1-6-1 all-time in the tournament. The Green Knights suffered a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Luther College in the first round of the 2016 tournament.

Ohio Northern is making its ninth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and its first since 2015. The Polar Bears are 10-7-1 all-time in the tournament, including a national runner-up finish in 2012. Ohio Northern, a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference, is 2-4-1 in its last seven games after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the OAC Tournament 2-0 by Marietta on November 5.

Calvin is making its 18th NCAA Division III Tournament trip and its sixth in a row. The Knights are 30-18-6 all-time in the tournament, which includes four national runner-up finishes. Calvin won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament by advancing past Hope College in a shootout in the championship match.

UW-Whitewater is making its 15th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and its first since 2016. The Warhawks are 11-12-4 all-time in the tournament. Whitewater competes as an independent in men's soccer and lost to St. Norbert 1-0 on Oct. 5 in De Pere.
