DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior wide receiver Samuel Staehling has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VI team for the third consecutive year.

Staehling, a Plymouth native, was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in 2017 and 2018. He is looking to become just the seventh student-athlete at a current NCAA Division III school to earn three first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, and the first since 2002.

Staehling holds a 3.98 grade point average in biology (pre-med) while establishing himself as one of the best receivers in NCAA Division III football. Entering Saturday's Midwest Conference Championship Game at Monmouth College, Staehling has hauled in 40 receptions for 493 yards, an average of 23.6 per catch, with 11 touchdowns this season.

Staehling holds the St. Norbert record for career touchdown receptions with 42. He only the second player in program history to eclipse 3,000 receiving yards, with a current total of 3,027. Staehling is averaging 21.5 yards per reception for his career, and is the currently leader nationally across all NCAA divisions among active players.

To be eligible for national or district selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team, scheduled to be announced Dec. 11, is selected after All-District teams are picked from eight geographic regions nationally. All first-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
