St. Norbert Drops Back End of Series at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - St. Norbert College came up empty on the scoreboard in a 2-0 loss to Trine University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Thunder Ice Arena.

The Green Knights, who won the series opener 5-3, dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the NCHA.

St. Norbert and Trine battled to a scoreless game through two periods, with each team having an empty first-period power-play opportunity.

The Green Knights then had a 5-on-3 power-play chance for 101 seconds early in the third period, but did not score. Trine would break through with a power-play goal with 8:20 remaining on a score by Brendan Prappas. St. Norbert would then kill off another minor penalty starting at the 12:14 mark, and would get 41 seconds of extra-attacker time. Trine would seal the win with an empty-net goal by Brandon Krumpschmid with 9 seconds remaining.

Trine outshot St. Norbert 34-24. Ryan Bontorin made 32 saves for the Green Knights, while Brett Young made 24 stops for the Thunder.

St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Trine was 1-for-3.
