Staehling Leads St. Norbert Football All-MWC Contingent

DE PERE - Midwest Conference North Division champion St. Norbert College had 14 players selected to the All-Midwest Conference North Division Team, announced today by the league office.

Senior wide receiver Samuel Staehling was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Skill Most Valuable Player, while coach Dan McCarty picked up his fourth MWC Coach of the Year honor.

Joining Staehling on the first team were senior offensive lineman Austin Rupiper, junior offensive linemen John Leonhard and E.J. Mastrocola, sophomore running back Nate Ihlenfeldt, senior defensive linemen Kordell Draves, Jerome Tillis and Blake Olejniczak, junior linebacker Maccabee Barrett, and senior defensive backs Walter McBride and Joe Peterson.

Earning second-team All-MWC North Division honors were junior wide receiver Matt Galanopoulos, senior quarterback Gage McClanahan and junior linebacker Jake Berken.

Staehling, a Plymouth native, finished his stellar career with a senior season that totaled 46 receptions for 1,028 yards with 11 touchdowns. His 1,000-yard receiving season was just the fifth in St. Norbert history despite playing just a nine-game schedule. Staehling is a three-time first-team All-MWC choice after being named second-team as a freshman.

Rupiper, an Evansville native, Leonhard, a Green Bay native, and Mastrocola, a Burlington native, led an offensive line that helped the Green Knights average 185.2 yards rushing per game. Mastrocola was a first-team All-MWC selection in 2017, while Rupiper was second team in 2018.

Ihlenfeldt, a Green Bay native, led the Green Knights in rushing with 857 yards on 129 carries, an average of 6.6 yards per carry. He also had seven rushing touchdowns.

Draves, a Forestville native, had 44 tackles with a team-high 13 tackles for loss along with 2 1/2 quarterback sacks. Draves was a first-team All-MWC choice in 2017 and 2018.

Tillis, a Maywood, Ill., native, had 33 tackles with 5 1/2 tackles-for-loss and two quarterback sacks. He was a first-team All-MWC selection in 2018.

Olejniczak, an Abrams native, finished with 37 tackles along with nine tackles-for-loss and four quarterback sacks.

Barrett, a Battle Creek, Mich., native, led the Green Knights in tackles with 59. He totaled 7 1/2 tackles-for-loss and two quarterback sacks.

McBride, a Chicago, Ill., native, finished with 32 tackles and three passes defended. He was a second-team All-MWC honoree in 2018.

Peterson, a Racine native, finished with 31 tackles and had a team-high six interceptions.

Galanopoulos, a Skokie, Ill., native, was second on the team in receptions with 43 and had 435 yards with four touchdowns. He also had 30 rushing attempts for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

McClanahan, a Rowlett, Texas, native, led the Green Knights in passing yards with 1,210. He completed 91 of 147 passes with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.

Berken, a Green Bay native, totaled 27 tackles with 3 1/2 tackles-for-loss and two quarterback sacks. He forced a team-high three fumbles and also returned an interception for a touchdown.
