Green Knights Get First Win With Shutout of Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. - St. Norbert College got its first win of the young season with a 4-0 triumph over Finlandia University in the first game of a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series at Houghton County Arena.

The victory was the first for first-year head coach A.J. Aitken at the helm of the Green Knights.

Following a scoreless first period, St. Norbert got on the board when Libbie Doney scored her first goal of the season on a power-play marker at 8:23 of the second period. Lauren Arnholt and Eve Parker were credited with assists.

That goal would hold up until Doney scored again, this time at 6:32 of the third period off a helper from Lisa Lenell. St. Norbert would salt the game away with goals by Eve Parker at 12:39 and Paige Nelson at 15:21 of the third period. Arnholt and Jordan Moore assisted on Parker's goal, while Nelson's was unassisted.

Doney, Parker and Arnholt all had multi-point games for the Green Knights, who were 1-for-2 on the power play. Finlandia was 0-for-2 on the power play.

Anais Aurard made 18 saves for the Green Knights, while Annah Smiddy turned away 34 shots for the Lions.
