Green Knights Tumble at Ripon

RIPON - St. Norbert College fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 66-48 loss to Ripon College in a Midwest Conference game at Willmore Center.

The Green Knights and Red Hawks were tied 7-7 midway through the first quarter until Ripon went on a 6-0 run to take a 13-7 lead before settling on a 13-9 edge after the first 10 minutes.

A Kaycee Gierczak basket brought St. Norbert to within 17-13 with 8:27 left in the second quarter, but Ripon went on an 8-0 run to take a 25-13 lead. The Green Knights would get back to within 25-18 with 3:40 left on a Sarah Neumann basket, but Ripon took a lead of 35-22 into halftime.

Macie Zurfluh would score on St. Norbert's first possession of the third quarter, but the Green Knights would get no closer.

St. Norbert shot 42.9 percent (21-for-49) from the floor. Gierczak led St. Norbert with 10 points, while Jessica Boerner added seven points.

Ripon shot 48.1 percent (25-for-52) from the floor. Alison Leslie led the Red Hawks with 14 points, while Bonnie Jensen totaled 13 points.
