MEQUON - St. Norbert College closed out the first half of the regular season with its third consecutive win, coming in a 5-4 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Ozaukee Ice Center.

The Green Knights (5-7, 3-5 NCHA) held a 5-4 lead after two periods and shut down the Falcons (5-4-1, 2-3-1) in the third period to earn their third consecutive win heading into the semester break.

Concordia took the early lead with a power-play goal by Josh Adkins just 5:34 into the game. St. Norbert went on a major power play just 17 seconds later, and the Green Knights converted when Brendon Gysbers finished at the 7:09 mark. The Falcons' Braydon Barker put Concordia ahead at 14:08, but the Green Knights would counter with two goals before the end of the period. Peyton Frantti scored at 18:18, followed by Gysbers with another power-play marker at 19:13 for a 3-2 lead.

The Green Knights got some breathing room early in the second period, when Kurt Black scored his eighth goal of the season at 5:51 of the second period. Peter Bates then scored unassisted at 8:23, with Concordia pulling starting goaltender Bo Didur after the marker. St. Norbert would eventually need both of those goals, with the Falcons getting goals by Nick Guerra at 12:15 and a power-play goal at 19:26 to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Concordia would have 1:04 of extra-attacker time late in the game but would not get a quality scoring chance.

Bates added two assists for a three-point game, while Luke Davison finished with three assists. Frantti and Black also had an assist to join Gysbers with two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot Concordia 45-34, with both teams going 2-for-3 on the power play.

Ryan Bontorin made 30 saves for the Green Knights. Didur made 24 saves for Concordia, while Eric Schuette stopped all 16 shots he faced in 30:33 of relief.
