St. Norbert Battles Titans In Strong Effort

DE PERE - St. Norbert College gave UW-Oshkosh all it wanted but eventually fell 72-57 in a non-conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights trailed the Titans 49-48 after three quarters before Oshkosh took a 23-9 advantage in the fourth quarter.

St. Norbert fell behind by nine on two occasions in the first quarter before getting to within 20-13 at the end of the period. The Green Knights trailed 22-16 early in the second quarter before going on a 12-4 run to take a 25-24 lead on a Jessica Boerner hoop with 6:45 left in the period. Oshkosh would take an eight-point lead at 36-28 with 2:39 left before baskets by Ava Moldenhauer and two by Macie Zurfluh got St. Norbert to within 36-34 at halftime.

The Green Knights took a 38-36 lead on a Moldenhauer basket 45 seconds into the third quarter. Oshkosh would take a 43-38 lead before St. Norbert got back to within two points on four occasions. Sarah Neumann's free throw with 35 seconds left in the period brought St. Norbert to within 49-48 at the end of the third quarter.

St. Norbert forged a 53-53 tie with 6:22 left before Oshkosh went on a 13-0 run over the next 4:39 to take a 66-53 lead with 1:43 left and seal the outcome.

The Green Knights shot 40.4 percent (23-for-57) from the floor. Zurfluh just missed a triple double, finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Boerner added 11 points, while Mary Cravillion added nine points.

Oshkosh shot 39.2 percent (20-for-51) from the field. Nikki Arneson led the Titans with 20 points, while Leah Porath added 14 points.
