Green Knights and Spartans Replay Deadlock

GENEVA, Ill. - For the second time in as many days, St. Norbert College and Aurora University skated to a 3-3 overtime tie in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

For the second consecutive night, St. Norbert tied the game in the third period. Kurt Black scored for the 12th time this season with the eventual game-tying goal at 6:49 of the third period. Peter Bates and Brendon Gysbers assisted.

St. Norbert, which is 5-0-2 in its last seven games, took a 1-0 lead at 6:39 of the first period when Bates scored for the seventh time this year off a Peyton Frantti helper. Aurora tied the game when Danny O'Donnell scored at 9:41, but Dominick Sacco pushed the Green Knights back ahead off a Michael Spethmann assist at 15:04.

The Green Knights would hold the lead until Aurora scored a pair of power-play markers late in the second period. Riley Doyon scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 18:28, followed by a power-play goal at Shawn O'Malley at 19:22.

Bates had St. Norbert's lone multi-point game with one goal and one assist.

St. Norbert outshot Aurora 39-31. Colby Entz made 28 saves for the Green Knights, while Josh Boyko made 36 stops for the Spartans.

St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Aurora was 2-for-5.
