St. Norbert Wins Rose-Hulman Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - St. Norbert College had most of its team competing at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Friday Night Spikes Meet, finishing first out of six teams at the Sports & Recreation Center.

The Green Knights posted 128 points to finish comfortably ahead of second-place Millikin University's 82 points.

St. Norbert also sent select competitors to the Indiana University Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., with Maddie LeBrun turning in the top Day 1 performance. LeBrun finished with a career-best time of 57.60 seconds in the 400-meter dash "fast section" to finish in third place.

Sara DeGroot registered St. Norbert's lone individual win at Rose-Hulman, winning the pole vault with a height of 10 feet 4 3/4 inches. The 4x200-meter relay of Emilia Lichty, Daijah Brown, Sydney Zima and Brianne Barta won with a time of 1:48.92.

Sydney Spaeth was second in the triple jump at 34-11 1/4 and also added a third-place showing in the high jump at 5-0 1/4. Katherine Wanie was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.51 seconds and also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.82 seconds. Brown was second in the 400-meter dash in 59.77 seconds. Carolyn Neerdaels was second in the 1-mile run in 5:38.21 and was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:33.56. Bonnie Raechal Beres was second in the 3,000-meter run in 10:52.55.

The quartet of Lichty, Nya Nazario, Hailey Ruplinger and Sydney Olund was third in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:17.55. Emmy Larson was third in the triple jump at 34-3 1/2 and fourth in the high jump at 5-0 1/4. Emma Sweere was third in the shot put at 37-1 3/4 and fifth in the weight throw with a heave of 46-4. Lauren Rottier was third in the long jump at 16-6 1/2, while Kacey Topp was third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.63 seconds.

Zima finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.29 seconds, was fifth in the long jump at 16-1 1/2 and added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 28.01 seconds. Barta finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.48, while Lichty was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.68 seconds. Nazario was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:31.73, while Anna Giblin tied for fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.01 seconds.

Hayley Winzenried was fifth in the high jump at 4-10 1/4, while Sydney Moore was sixth at 4-8 1/4. Clara Yoap was fifth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:12.18, followed by Alex Bruley in sixth place at 11:13.87. Brittany Wagner was fifth in the triple jump at 32-7 1/2. Hailey Ruplinger was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.96.
