St. Norbert Cold Against Cornell

DE PERE - St. Norbert College shot 34 percent from the floor en route to a 60-48 loss to Cornell College in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights connected on just 17 of 50 field-goal attempts and were 4-for-19 (21.1 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.

St. Norbert was just 2-for-13 (15.4 percent) from the floor in the first quarter, with Cornell taking a 12-4 lead in the first 10 minutes. The Green Knights fell behind 21-6 midway through the second quarter but whittled the deficit down to 24-13 at halftime.

The Green Knights trailed by five points twice in the third quarter, getting to within 23-18 with 8:22 left and at 37-32 with 1:52 left, the latter after an Oliva DeCleene 3-pointer. The Rams would close out the third period on a 6-1 run to take a 43-33 lead after the third quarter.

St. Norbert hung around in the fourth quarter, trailing 45-39 with 5:45 left, but Cornell would score the next five points to take an 11-point lead. A Natalie Cerrato 3-pointer brought St. Norbert to within 50-44 with 3:23 left, but again Cornell scored the next five points - this time to salt the game away.

Cerrato led the Green Knights with 11 points, while DeCleene added 10 points.

Cornell shot 40.8 percent (20-for-49) from the floor. Mo Kempiak led the Rams with 16 points, while Rose Shimaoka added 12 points and Anne Visser 10 points.
