Surging St. Norbert Sweeps St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College picked up its second consecutive sweep of a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series with a 5-1 win over College of St. Scholastica at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The Green Knights (12-8-2, 10-6-2 NCHA) are now 10-1-2 in their last 13 games.

St. Norbert fell behind early as St. Scholastica's Tyler Hinterser scored just 3:07 into the game. The Green Knights would tie the score midway through the period when Max Brainin tallied his third marker of the season with a goal at 11:18.

The game would remain deadlocked at 1-1 until late in the second period. St. Scholastica was cited for simultaneous tripping and high sticking penalties at 18:43 of the period. It took the Green Knights just 50 seconds to score on the 5-on-3 advantage, with Brendon Gysbers potting his fourth goal of the year off helpers from Peyton Frantti and Kurt Black.

St. Norbert pulled away midway through the third period when Black scored his 17th goal of the season at 10:39. Brainin scored for the second time in the game at 14:48, and Keegan Milligan closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:10.

Brainin finished with two goals for two points, while Gysbers and Black each had an assist for two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot St. Scholastica 32-22. Colby Entz made 21 saves for the Green Knights, who had to kill off a five-minute major St. Scholastica power play early in the second period. Jack Branby turned away 27 shots for the Saints.

The Green Knights were 2-for-6 on the power play, while St. Scholastica was 0-for-2.
