DE PERE - St. Norbert College climbed back into contention for qualifying for the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Playoffs by finishing off a series sweep of Marian University with a 3-0 win at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights are currently tied with Trine University for sixth place - signifying the final playoff spot - at eight points with six games remaining. St. Norbert hosts Trine in a key two-game NCHA series on Feb. 7-8 at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

Following a scoreless first period, the Green Knights broke through in the second period when Libby Barbato finished a power-play opportunity with a marker at 7:43.

That goal would hold up all the way into the middle of the third period, when Katie Trudeau scored off a scrum in front of the net at the 10:34 mark of the third period. St. Norbert salted the game away when Libbie Doney tallied a shorthanded, empty-net goal with 1:11 remaining.

Hannah Hickman, Lisa Lenell and Khloe Spors all tallied assists for St. Norbert.

St. Norbert killed off seven Marian power-play chances, with goaltender Anais Aurard making 25 saves in earning her fifth career shutout. Marian goaltender Maggie Cusey made 25 saves.

The Green Knights were 1-for-5 on the power play.
