St. Norbert Finishes Third at MWC Championship

GRINNELL, Iowa - In just its second season as a program, St. Norbert College finished in third place at the Midwest Conference Championship hosted by Grinnell College at Osgood Pool.

The Green Knights rolled up 516 points to finish well ahead of fourth-place Monmouth College's 344.5 points. St. Norbert, which saw a 180-point improvement in the team score over its inaugural season, finished behind Grinnell's 915.5 points and Lake Forest College's 687.5 points.

Ben Stolberg won his second career conference individual championship by winning the 200-yard backstroke with a St. Norbert-record time of 1:51.91.

Matt Trotter finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in a school-record time of 1:54.94 and also finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.23 seconds. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Killian Riley, Alex Cervantez, Wayne King and Trotter finished third in a school-record time of 3:11.97. Peter Martin was fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in a St. Norbert-record mark of 16:51.85. King turned in a school-record time of 2:15.75 in the 200-yard breaststroke to finish eighth.

Jason Hunt was ninth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.28, followed by Riley Englebert in 10th place at 2:04.44 and Scott Grodecki in 16th place at 2:15.10. Jared Ashburn was 10th in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:08.11, while Cervantez was tied for 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.17 seconds.

Sam Martin finished in 13th place in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:22.97. Ray Scribano was 13th in the 1,650-meter freestyle in 17:34.74, followed by Jared Kort in 16th place in 18:41.24.
