Green Knights Place Third at Ripon College Invite

RIPON - St. Norbert College men's track and field team placed third at the Ripon College Sherman-Lukoski Invitational at Ingalls Field.

Battling very cold conditions, the Green Knights totaled 132 points. Host Ripon captured the title with 209 points, while NCAA Division II Michigan Tech was second with 158 points.

Alex DeVillers won the 10,000 meter run with a time of 32 minutes 58.90 seconds. Tony Grossman added the Green Knights other event title with a time of 1:03.89 in the 400-meter hurdles. Grossman went on to finish second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11 feet 7 inches.

Dustin Dessell was second in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet 4 inches. He was third in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 11.84 seconds andl was fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.91 seconds.

Ham Dowden registered a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.27. Gavin Strawn was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:33.36, while Steve Schumacher was fourth in the 400 at 54.65 seconds. Mackenzie Laska was foruth in the 10,000-meter run in 33:59.17.

Grossman, Schumacher, Ryan Ascher and Devin Thomas were second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.37 seconds.

Tony Dionne was second in the shot put (44-7), fourth in the hammer throw (143-0) and fifth in the discus (111-6). Bret Blozinski was third in the discus (124-4) and fourth in the shot (42-5 1/2). Connor Thornton was fourth in the javelin throw with a heave of 119 feet 9 inches.
