St. Norbert Runs Wild, Sweeps Carroll in Weekend Series

WAUKESHA - St. Norbert College stole 13 bases in the opener and had 17 total on the day as the Green Knights swept Carroll University 16-4 and 7-1 in a Midwest Conference doubleheader at Waukesha West High School.

The Green Knights improved to 12-6 overall and 4-0 in the North Division of the Midwest Conference. Carroll (6-12, 0-8) has lost 21 straight games in the series with St. Norbert.

St. Norbert scored at least one run in every inning in the opener, taking an 8-0 lead after three innings. Brandon Hintz and Jared Yost each had four stolen bases in the game, while Cory Fuller added two. Matt Hannon, Garrick Fisher and Jordan Powers each had one.

Fuller finished the game 5-for-6 with five runs batted in. Fuller had an RBI single in the first, third and seventh innings as well as a two-run double in the sixth.

Hintz, Hannon and Fisher were all 2-for-4. Hintz and Fisher scored two runs each while Hannon scored four times. Hannon and Powers each had two runs batted in.

Tony Jandron pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Bryan Stoppenbach spun a complete-game three hitter. Stoppenbach walked two and struck out eight, allowing a lone run in the sixth inning.

Powers hit a two-run double in the second inning, while Fuller added a run-scoring single in the third. Hintz blasted a two-run home run in the fourth, while Jandron stroked a solo shot in the fifth. Yost had a run-scoring double in the seventh to round out St. Norbert's scoring.

Hintz and Yost were both 2-for-4 in game two, with Hintz and Kyle Johnsen both scoring two runs each.
