Schneider's Big Day Paces St. Norbert

WAUWATOSA - Dann Schneider won two events to help St. Norbert College to a second-place finish at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational.

The Green Knights registered 207 points, just behind Milwaukee School of Engineering's 211 points. Marquette was third with 116 points.

Schneider won the 200-meter dash and the long jump, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship in the latter event. Schneider's long jump leap went 23 feet 1/2 inch. He also won the 200 by nearly a full half-second, running a winning time of 22.04 seconds. Schneider placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 43-8 1/2.

St. Norbert won the 800-meter sprint medley with a time of 1:36.57. Running the medley were Dustin Dessell, Paul Leeman, Schneider and Ham Dowden.

Alex DeVillers was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:58.51, while Mackenzie Laska was second with a time of 10:25.11. Benji Wetli added a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 17:36.89, while Ben Knapp was third in the 5K with a time of 18:22.68.

Paul Leeman was second in the high jump, clearing a height of 6 feet 3/4 inch. He was third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.31. Brent Schreiber was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.23 seconds.

Jordan Gobert placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 150 feet 7 inches. Tony Grossman was third in the pole vault with a height of 11-11 3/4.

St. Norbert was second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.13 seconds, with Dowden, Leeman, Schneider and David Mason running. The 4x400-meter relay team of Ryan Ascher, Dowden, Grossman and John O'Brien was second with a time of 3:36.96.

The distance medley team was third with a time of 11:00.91. Running the distance medley were Steve Schumacher, Mason, Gobert and John Barrett.
