Green Knights Drop First Game on Foreign Trip

KAISARIANI, Greece - St. Norbert College kicked off its first-ever men's basketball foreign trip with a 79-60 loss to Near East, based here in the Athens suburb. Near East is a member of the Greek A2 professional league.
St. Norbert trailed 36-17 at halftime after making just 7 of 26 field-goal attempts. The Green Knights connected on 16 of 26 shots in the second half to finish 23-for-52 (44.2 percent) for the game.
Steve Papke led St. Norbert with 12 points, while Dave Wipperfurth and John Taylor scored 11 points apiece. Taylor connected on three 3-point baskets.
Matt Coenen and Kyle Johnsen each scored seven points, while Rob Durrett added six points, Jake Dietz four and Kenny Rideout two.
