Green Knights Open Season With Pair of Wins

HOWARDS GROVE - St. Norbert College opened its 2009 women's volleyball season with a pair of wins in the Lakeland College Muskie Classic.

The Green Knights topped Alverno College in the opener 25-8, 25-7, 25-12. St. Norbert then beat Midwest Conference-rival Ripon College 25-22, 28-26, 25-7.

Against Alverno, Lauren Meehan had nine kills while Sarah Sulentic had eight kills and three blocks. Amy Perszyk had 22 assists and 13 digs.

Meehan led the way against Ripon, registering 10 kills and nine digs. Sulentic had eight kills and four blocks, while Perszyk had 24 assists and 16 digs.

St. Norbert will face host Lakeland as well as UW-Superior in its two Saturday matches in the Muskie Classic.
