St. Norbert Places Second at Tom Barry Invite

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College's women's cross country team got off to a solid start with a second-place finish in the 35th Annual Tom Barry Invitational at Colburn Park.

The Green Knights registered 69 points, finishing behind champion Carroll University's 48 points. It was the second year in a row St. Norbert was the runner-up to Carroll at the Tom Barry. The St. Norbert Alumni team was fourth with 87 points.

Carroll's Megan O'Grady won the 5,000-meter race with a meet record time of 17 minutes 47 seconds. St. Norbert's Jenny Scherer, who set the previous record of 18:04 in 2008, was second with a time of 18:18.

Amanda Whipple was St. Norbert's second finisher, placing eighth overall with a time of 20:17. Brianna Skrzypcak was 14th with a time of 20:33, while Kim Keil was 16th in 20:39. Kali Reierson completed St. Norbert's scoring with a 29th-place finish in 21:33.

Kayle Beck and Erika Quinn were 43rd and 44th overall with a time of 22:06 and 22:07, respectively, to round out St. Norbert's team positioners.

For the alumni team, Trisha Feldhausen placed fourth overall with a time of 19:39. Katie (Ledesma) Heinzen was 11th with a time of 20:20, while Brianna (Hughes) Smit was 22nd with a time of 21:15.
