Green Knights Clipped By UW-River Falls

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College dropped a hard-fought non-conference dual meet with UW-River Falls by a 5-4 score at Western Racquet Club.
The Green Knights (1-2) opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. The No. 1 pair of Lauren Post and Kelly Van Handel topped Kathryne Ostrowski and Naomi Wolff 9-8 (9-7). Allyson Yankle and Erin Riutta then beat Stacia Kozel and Cassie Wood 9-7 at No. 2. Callie Schroeder and Maria Slusarek finished off the sweep with a win at No. 3 over Brittany Bonine and Amy Goertzen.
Van Handel claimed St. Norbert's lone singles win with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 win over Wood at No. 2. The Green Knights had a chance to win the dual based on the decision at No. 1 singles, but Ostrowski outlasted Post in a marathon three-set match by a 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 14-12 score.
