Big Second Half Leads St. Norbert in MWC Opener

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College scored four second-half goals to erase a halftime deficit and top Lake Forest College 4-1 in a Midwest Conference match at Farwell Field.

The Green Knights trailed 1-0 at intermission before scoring four markers in a 28-minute stretch in the second half. St. Norbert improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the MWC, while Lake Forest fell to 3-3, 1-1.

Becky Esrock put Lake Forest ahead with a goal at 40:02 of the match. That would be all the Foresters would muster the rest of the way, as the Green Knights outshot the hosts 10-0 in the second half and 20-3 for the game.

Stephanie Gatyas scored the equalizer on an unassisted score at 52:13. Ann Maki scored unassisted for her first goal of the year at 64:07. Gatyas then followed off an assist from Maki for her seventh goal of the year at 73:19. Jessica Schadrie then scored her first goal of the season at 80:05 to finish the scoring onslaught with an assist going to Gatyas.

St. Norbert goalkeeper Cara Tazioli did not make a save but faced just one shot on goal in her 90 minutes of work. Lake Forest goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger made eight saves.
