LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Special teams helped set up three St. Norbert College touchdowns as the Green Knights topped Lake Forest College 35-14 in a Midwest Conference game at Farwell Field.

A long kickoff return, a shanked punt and a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown all turned into points for St. Norbert, which has won 35 of its last 37 Midwest Conference games and is now 24-2 all-time in the series with Lake Forest..

Lake Forest's Brock Stenberg would take the game's second play from scrimmage 67 yards for a touchdown just 26 seconds into the game, but the Foresters' 6-0 lead would be short-lived. Following a kickoff out of bounds, the next kickoff was returned 48 yards by Logan Krueger to the Lake Forest 30-yard line.

St. Norbert (4-0, 3-0 MWC) converted a fourth-and-4 at the Lake Forest 24 on a Rob Berger pass to Jeremy Gezella, and three plays later John Weninger plunged in from a yard out for a 7-6 lead.

Lake Forest's first possession of the second quarter ended in a three-and-out, with the punt from the Foresters' 5-yard line going just 19 yards out of bounds. St. Norbert needed three plays to go up 14-6, scoring on a 19-yard pass from Berger to Gezella.

With 4:27 left in the first half, Lake Forest kicker Tim Gruzwalski's 37-yard field-goal attempt was blocked by Dan Sjoquist and returned 67 yards by Justin Baker for a touchdown for a 21-6 lead.

St. Norbert forced a Lake Forest fumble at the St. Norbert 35 on the next possessions, and the Green Knights marched 65 yards in eight plays to score on a 27-yard run by Berger 45 seconds left before halftime. Berger was nearly sacked on the play but scrambled into an open field before diving into the end zone to score.

The Green Knights would put the game away on the first serried of the fourth quarter, needing nine plays to go 77 yards capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Todd Sheedy. Lake Forest scored the game's final points with 4:51 left on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Justin Novak to Chris Carter.
