Second Half Dooms St. Norbert in Loss to Grinnell

DE PERE - Grinnell College scored two second-half goals to make the difference in a 3-1 win over St. Norbert College in a Midwest Conference men's soccer match at the Minahan Stadium Complex.

The Green Knights fell to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the MWC, while Grinnell improved to 6-5-2, 3-0-2.

The match was tied 1-1 at halftime before Grinnell scored two goals less than three minutes apart early in the second half. J.P. Prouty connected on a penalty kick after a handball in the penalty area at 52 minutes 59 seconds. The Pioneers' Andrew Stephenson then knocked in a goal at 55:55 for a two-goal advantage.

The Pioneers' Tashi Langton scored the game's first goal at 40:20, but the Green Knights answered 41 seconds later when Kevin Conrath knocked in a loose ball out front off an assist from Nick Hren.

St. Norbert outshot Grinnell 14-7, but had several strikes go high or wide of the net. The Green Knights also had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Ben Schemper made three saves for Grinnell, while Joe Schwartz had two stops for the Green Knights.
