Maki's Late Goal Puts St. Norbert Into Title Match

WAUKESHA - Ann Maki's goal in the 84th minute lifted St. Norbert College to a thrilling 3-2 win over Lake Forest College in the Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (11-8) will look for their first NCAA Division III Tournament bid when it faces host Carroll University (16-2-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Maki's score came at 83 minutes 11 seconds off a free kick. St. Norbert had trailed 2-1 in the first half before Olivia Roff's goal at 42:55 squared the match at 2-2.

Lake Forest drew first blood at 16:56 on Becky Esrock's unassisted goal. St. Norbert's Stephanie Gatyas scored her 12th goal of the season, getting an assist from Jessica Schadrie, at 23:58. The Foresters' Lisa Sorensen scored at 26:01 for a 2-1 lead.

Lake Forest outshot St. Norbert 12-9 and also held an 8-6 corner kicks advantage. The match featured six cautions issued, with St. Norbert being slapped with four.

Cara Tazioli made five saves for St. Norbert, while Bri Schleibinger made six saves for the Foresters.
